The excremental Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has apparently decided to put his country ahead of party, according to this poorly-edited AP report:
President Barack Obama’s allies in the Senate will not provide funds to close the Guantanamo Bay prison until the administration comes up with a satisfactory plan for transferring the detainees held there, top Democrats said Tuesday.
And in a further break with Obama, the Senate’s top Democrat said he opposes transferring any Guantanamo prisoners to the United States for their trials or to serve their sentences. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has said 50 to 100 Guantanamo detainees may be transferred to U.S. facilities.
“I can’t make it any more clear,” Reid said. “We will never allow terrorists to be released in the United States.”
I think it was Mitch McConnell who said Sunday last that no city in this country would welcome being the venue for the trials of these Mohammedan savages (my term, not his) because it would make those cities targets for al-Qaedists and other representatives of the Religion of Peace. I think that’s a great point. Giving them any sort of domestic profile also gives the filthy hippies who apologize for them a chance to do some of their performance art for the cameras. And I don’t care to see these jihadists exalted by the post-American neo-socialists, so nuts to that, fella.
I wonder what got into Reid, though. It’s not like him to consider the American point of view in the War against Islamofascism, so there must be an interesting backstory.
Or a sudden premonition of his own domestic dhimmitude.

The basic problem facing the Democratic Party elites with regard to torture is that they don’t know what to do with it now that it’s served its purpose in fundraising and in vilifying the former Administration. To go as far as they have with hyperbole and self-righteousness against Bush the Younger is to leave them deeply vulnerable. After all, these people have hitched their wagon to a narcissistic liar who makes Bill Clinton seem a model of partisan fidelity and personal loyalty. If they’re stupid enough to do that, then they’re stupid enough to persist with their moral preening and untenable hypocrisy.
I don’t care what happens to Pelosi or what these truth and reconciliation committees do about anything. I don’t care about so-called “torture” because I don’t believe that waterboarding or sleep deprivation or any humiliation inflicted on criminals defines American Civilization as these filthy rodents in the Democratic Party would like you to believe it does. To them, History exists to be abused and to serve self-abuse. Let’s talk about scalping Indians and lynching negroes. Let’s talk about pandemics and genocide, deliberately caused or not. Let’s live in a perpetual fog of self-loathing nonsense and never take stock of what this civilization has done to improve the lot of all mankind.
Incidentally, it’s important to remember that when Democrats talk about how evil and un-American waterboarding is, they’re actually defending mass murderers from the fear of death by drowning. They’d like to leave it as a more abstract accusation, but we’re talking about actual Islamofascist murderers, including Abu Zubaydah and Khalid Mohammed. Yes, we did make those men fear for their lives. And what of it? The moral perversity of Americans apologizing for these murderers at the expense of our national security and the dignity of those who have chosen to defend us is disgusting.

Yesterday, Bob Schieffer asked partisan hack/United States Senator Pat Leahy whether he would seek to subpoena Cheney et al to testify before these truth and reconciliation committees that the brownshirts are demanding —and Leahy said no. Huh? Right there at the very end of his remarks in the most matter of fact way. It was rewindable.
Isn’t the whole point of a show trial to make the defeated party or enemy of the (present) state squirm for the cameras and the bloodlust of the New Totalitarians? I guess Leahy figures he can achieve much of what he wants in political and propaganda terms whether the former Vice President is there in the flesh to defend himself or not.
But if demanding accountability —the biggest whore among words ever, it turns out— is so terribly important, then how can Leahy and these other politicizers of national security now pull their punches thrown at Cheney? How could they fail —after making it their stock in trade for years— to demand Donald Rumsfeld’s head in the most public forum possible? If there were crimes committed, it would be a moral failure of the Democratic Party —would it not?— if they did not use the power they now have to deliver justice to their enemies.
You know, the enemies that succeeded in keeping our country safe from a further terrorist attack for more than seven years.
Always remember: when a Democrat speaks out against the so-called torture perpetrated at the behest of the Bush Administration, he is demanding that mass murderers themselves be protected against the fear of death. In the context of historical fact, that is exactly what Democrats are doing. They are upset because Khalid Sheik Mohammed was caused to fear for his life! We made the man who plotted to murder thousands of Americans believe he was being drowned! That is the state of the post-American mind: we must defend our enemies against ourselves in the interest of the world’s “good will.”

Obama dismisses the idea that his friendly exchanges with Hugo Chavez are endangering anything. But that’s because he’s a narcissistic moron who doesn’t understand that he does not own the Presidency of the United States, but is its caretaker. Obama thinks it’s all about him, but it’s not. He is a fool to lend the prestige of the American Presidency to absurd photo-ops with idiot socialists.
Of course, at this rate, Obama could take such a photo-op by himself and the result would be identical.

Any one gaffe or mistake Obama makes isn’t evidence in itself of much at all. But as he makes so many of them and to such egregious degrees, it is left to us to choose: either he is doing these things deliberately to provoke his enemies and thereby divide and distract them (there go two of Obama’s favorite accusations from the campaign) or he is genuinely ignorant of what constitutes an actual American.
Oh, hell! Those things aren’t mutually exclusive. It’s both!
The multiple snubs of the British. The spinelessness before the King of Saudi Arabia. The near-simultaneity of his anti-nuke gibberish with the launch of a long-range North Korean missile. And then the overtures to Iran met with news of many more new centrifuges. Is all of this some deliberate show of incompetence intended to sucker us and the world into underestimating him?
Well, the huge strides towards a Socialist system that he and his cronies have made are meant to impoverish this country and to reduce it to something unexceptional and bound over to a permanent posture of weakness before the other nations of the Earth.
That’s a loss to the progress of mankind. And this fucking bastard knows it, too. It’s why Obama lives: to wield the power to destroy the last, best hope of Earth for his own egotistical desires.
America has been embarrassed in the most literal sense. We have been exposed as a culture that demography and ideology ha[ve] strangled. Barack Hussein Obama is an instrument of that embarrassment. He is the avatar of post-Americanism. He is the reminder to this civilization that we, too, are mortal.

The White House is denying this afternoon that Barack Obama bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia last week. Jesus! How stupid can they be? They are now inviting the public to question their sanity. They will not like the verdict.
As I explained to certain of you degenerate post-American losers last year, Obama has less of a claim on Christianity than Islam. By far. (His time in Jeremiah Wright’s church was a political act of no spiritual quality whatsoever.) He was, in fact, born to a Muslim father and raised as a Muslim by another Muslim man for most of his formative years. And that was okay with everybody on the way to his installment because it was a package deal that self-loathing post-Americans were ordering: voting for the Immaculate Step-Brother would absolve us of all our racist and imperial and Blonde Jesus-loving sins. No one could ever quite say how the mechanics of that would work, but they meant it. By the millions. And I do get that. But I still hate it. And I won’t be satisfied until certain of you who voted for Barack Hussein Obama are made to squeal in regret. Because there are so many lies he’s told and so many lies he’s told that you’ve ignored that it becomes a deathwatch on your integrity to reckon up all the excuses and rationalizations you’ve made to protect your pathetic little emotional investments in this man. It’s wall-to-wall partisan whoredom. It’s post-American treachery.
Well, what finally can be believed of this ultimate confidence man? Will you allow him now to tell you even what you have seen with your own eyes? Go to the video. That wasn’t him stooping to conquer, see. That was him in abject obeisance to the Great Custodian of the Shrines. It was done as a signal to the rest of the Mohammedans that the change they had hoped for was here at last. It made me sick to see it and it makes me sicker still to see him deny it. Let him pay a heavy political price for this latest and most outrageous lie.

The Big Media propagandists for Obamachrist won’t tell you this, but the President of the United States bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia this past week. Moreover, as The Anchoress observes:
Spin it any way you like, Obama’s knee is bending, and the head is going very low, almost low enough to kiss a ring, but then Obama’s smooth movements become awkward and stilted, reflecting interrupted momentum – like a batter checking his swing. This looks very much like a man catching himself in mid-bow and suddenly remembering that he should not.
That is the correct interpretation. What checked his act of fealty was fear of premature exposure.
It’s unacceptable that report of this gesture has been completely suppressed by the partisan shot-callers at the major information organs. What Obama did was a disgrace surpassed only by the silence of Big Media in America.

The worry is that there isn’t just some weak demand in certain sectors which a bit of adjustment will sort out eventually, but that instead there’s a structural shift which will require a much longer transition period before things get better. I’m worried, anyway.
I agree. The good deeds of increased efficiency, superseded needs, and greater reliability will not go unpunished. No one wants phone books or junk mail or Muzak anymore. We are losing landlines, newspapers, car companies, and retail outlets. Is it by design? No: it’s by nature. Capitalism recapitulates the whole concept of natural selection. Circumstances shift and what appeared to be an immovable necessity then appears irresistably superfluous now. What can be done? Some stuff. But there are no prophetic insights that society can act on in concert that will make sense of or save us from what is happening today. There is an incredible lot of short-sightedness guiding the politician class right now that is deeply discouraging to long-term notions of stability. There is a shocking lack of critical thinking right now amongst our elected representatives that appears heedless and destructive, but which is romantically termed transformative and historic.
Well, the lack of critical thinking about Obama’s plans is what’s worst about partisanism. It is reflexive and herdlike. The worst slur a Leftist can concoct —even at this late hour— is some reference or comparison to George W. Bush. But even as Bush is their standard of awfulness, his example cannot mitigate or excuse the insanity of Obama’s budgets. Why are the Democrats in Congress so reckless with our debt? Because their leadership are Marxists who do not yet understand that their ambitions of leveling are delusional.
It is a helpless feeling to watch this systematic weakening of our economic stability at the hands of these wretched Socialist bastards. Who will rid us of them and their schemes?
