And I can’t find any comment from notorious anti-car tosser and alleged economist Duncan Black, the Philadelphia-based apologist for Paul Krugman, regarding this absurdity.
What’s up with that? I mean, Black’s blog is obviously a money-maker, so is he going to be, as Joe Biden says, patriotic —or is he gonna fight the power?

The President is either enormously incompetent at being an American or he is deliberately giving his support to the enemies of Western Civilization.
I am shocked at the degree of Obama’s anti-Americanism. And to even THINK that about an American President? It’s like Obama is the embodiment of Marx’s elaboration on Hegel’s belief in the repitition of History; in the American context, Obama is the farce to Lincoln’s tragedy.
Democrats and other sorts of anti- and post-American garbage who now advocate for “religious tolerance” are morally repugnant liars. These anti-Christian bigots and anti-Semites on the Left have no idea what religious tolerance means. For them to speak on it as they though they do is an obscenity.

Say, wouldn’t it be wild if it were found out —in some genuine and documentable way— that Obamajesus was deliberately using the Deepwater Horizon disaster as a pretext for punishing his political and familial enemies? It’s almost like our country is at the mercy of a lying narcissist whose sense of grievance and vindictiveness is imperial in its disregard. Our republican virtues have been sacrificed on an altar of identity politics and Marxist classism.
At this point, don’t Democrats have some sort of moral obligation to admit that they were wrong to have done this to a great civilization? How much further will their delusions go unchecked? I think anyone who voted for Obama owes it to himself and his fellow citizens to acknowledge the stupidity of his choice.
Especially any Democrat who supported Hillary.

I just saw a nightmare for Democrats on Chris Wallace’s Sunday morning program on FOX: a generous and accommodating interview between Wallace and Ted Olson, an unquestioned Republican hero, on the latter’s recent vindication in a Federal judicial ruling against California’s Proposition 8.
If interviews like this become more common, Democrats will no longer be able to credibly accuse all Republicans of homophobic bigotry. As their strawman loses its heft with every sympathetic word from such conservatives as Limbaugh and Cheney and Olson, the truth reveals the Democrats as laughable bigots themselves, prepared to cast apsersions against all facts and fairness.
As I see it, libertarianism is much more naturally at home with the GOP than with the party of Slavery, Secession, Segregation, and Socialism. If Republicans do more to appeal to individual rights and the libertarians who insist on them, they will earn together the demographic balance they need to stay in the long-term fight against the Totalitarian Left.

I will not defend Islam in any way, so let me be frank (or maybe a Frank) about that from the start. Religious tolerance is an illusion of interpersonal diplomacy assented to by most and realized —in fact— by few. Leftists perceive of themselves as superior to ”Christianists” by virtue of their supposedly scientific convictions (e.g., certitude in the truth of Evolution but, then again, of anthropogenic global warming, too) and by virtue of a sounder grasp of the separation of church and state. But Leftists do not believe in religious tolerance any more than I do. They believe that the Constitution grants them a right from religion when it actually grants them the right of religion. As an atheist in the conventional sense, observing that distinction is what allows me to live as I do. But, insofar as these Leftists and their pseudo-liberal followers are Marxist at all, they can certainly have no genuine respect for the magic shows of the religious Right or the Catholic church. After all, those are the refuges of racist gun-owners and Bible-readers, not of the right-thinking “reality-based community” (as they used to refer to themselves, now with extra irony).
Anyway, when fools like Michael Bloomberg stand and declaim upon the moral superiority of allowing a goddamned mosque complex to be built a mere stroll away from the site of the atrocities of 11 September 2001 as the highest order of religious tolerance, it makes me wonder whether such moral exhibitionism is easier with the tacit but certain knowledge that the godforsaken thing will never be built.
No, it isn’t religious tolerance to allow an insult and then to pretend that it was never inflicted. One thing that Westerners need to know about the Muslim mind is that it turns on the spit of the provocative gesture. As an old friend once remarked, the capital of capitalism had its two front teeth knocked out —right down the street from where this thing is supposed to be planted. The attacks of 11 September 2001 were, in themselves, a deeply humiliating and destructive gesture of contempt and provocation. What self-respecting people would permit a second such gesture at such proximity to the first? It isn’t defensible as religious tolerance but explicable only as the rankest sort of self-hatred. Bloomberg and the other useful idiots of the Ummah need to shut up and sit down.

What if the States (and let’s start occasionally capitalizing that term again if we really mean anything at all by Federalism) that are now caught up in challenging the Obamatons on the immigration question were to pass their own laws very simply making it illegal to violate Federal immigration law within their own jurisdictions?
After all, how could the Federal government sue a State for observing Federal law?
That’s what’s happening, anyway, because it is already illegal to be here —wait for it— illegally! Who knew?
You cannot bring down unemployment or fully institute Government Medicine or address Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security until you first “comprehensively” (isn’t that a favorite term of the amnesty lobby?) address immigration. There’s no getting around that.
Next topic of interest: asylum cities. Are municipalities to be condoned in their disregard for Federal immigration law while States are attacked by an idiotic President and Attorney General for essentially enforcing Federal immigration law?
I hope these miserable Democrats lose 60 seats in the House. They deserve it.

Glenn Reynolds links to this piece of news tonight from the Department of State (emphasis added):
The OAS Foreign Ministers mission is in Honduras seeking support for the San Jose Accord, which would restore the democratic and constitutional order and resolve the political crisis in Honduras. In support of this mission and as a consequence of the de facto regime’s reluctance to sign the San Jose Accord, the U.S. Department of State is conducting a full review of our visa policy in Honduras. As part of that review, we are suspending non-emergency, non-immigrant visa services in the consular section of our embassy in Honduras, effective August 26. We firmly believe a negotiated solution is the appropriate way forward and the San Jose Accord is the best solution.
Why do people believe that Obama is a smart guy? I think he’s proving himself to be stunningly incompetent. The vast majority of Hondurans themselves are glad to be rid of Zelaya because he was threatening a coup. Their constitution worked. Its constituted branches of government did exactly what they were supposed to do. And the Obama Administration does what in response? Punishes an entire country because of his own private loyalty to a fellow Marxist and would-be practitioner of Chavismo?
What a disaster!

To permit this ridiculous fraud of a President and his useful idiots in Congress to expand our country’s debt way into the trillions is morally insane. Our civilization cannot survive with that kind of debt and the concomitant taxation.
We have been warned. Now we should act.

Did you hear this ridiculous liar of a President we’re stuck with say this [yester]day? (emphasis mine)
President Obama made what his advisers believe were his first public comments on the U.S. Postal Service on Tuesday, basically knocking its performance during his health-care-themed town hall in New Hampshire.
He said an audience member raised a “legitimate concern” about how a government-run health-care program might affect private insurers.
“My answer is that if the private insurance companies are providing a good bargain, and if the public option has to be self-sustaining — meaning taxpayers aren’t subsidizing it, but it has to run on charging premiums and providing good services and a good network of doctors, just like any other private insurer would do — then I think private insurers should be able to compete. They do it all the time.”
Then he invoked the Postal Service:
“I mean, if you think about it, UPS and FedEx are doing just fine, right? No, they are. It’s the post office that’s always having problems.”
That comment provoked laughter from the audience.
“That comment” makes absolute nonsense of his socialism. In fact, it very succinctly implies that Government entities are prone to acceptable levels of inefficiency and waste because it is typically assumed that they will be subsidized indefinitely, thereby making “competition” an open fiction.
It does not matter that Obama says the public option “has to be self-sustaining” because that’s a lie and he knows it’s a lie as he tells it.
The best thing that could possibly happen to this guy right now is some disaster or crisis to make him “look” Presidential. Otherwise, and day by day, the recklessness and arrogance of this Lying Narcissist on the subject of health care will erode his position with the moderates and other kinds of polite straddlers who are still too stubborn to admit that they got took when they voted for him.

I think it’s great that the President of the United States is comfortable enough in his own skin to share a beer with a couple of guys out on the lawn of his house.
But what brought him there is ridiculous, although entirely predictable: pride, arrogance, and a kind of narcissism that deserves to be examined and laughed at —for the good of the Republic.
I have zero respect for anyone who cannot see the cultish element in Obama’s support. The post-racial post-American anti-Bush makes monkeys out of men: poor little nothings (often employed as “journalists”) who are too afraid of being stigmatized as racists for making even the most basic kind of criticisms of him that one must expect of the fourth estate. How will these Democrats be held accountable if the people on the TV and the editorial boards are too afraid of false accusations? For that matter, how can we expect cops to do their jobs if we assume that they are authoritarian bullies bent on oppressing minorities? That’s what the President did. And he was wrong.
So has he now apologized to James Crowley? I doubt it.
Pride goeth before a fall.
