Pennsylvania Avenue

Friday, October 31st, 2008

If Pennsylvania goes for McCain, he wins. If not, he loses. And we will know it early on, too, I’m guessing.

Oh, well. I’ve run the numbers and there’s no other way.

Long live the Republic.

Reparations

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Let’s also not forget that Obama is lying about his position on reparations. He’s supposedly against them —but is still in favor of them so long as they are called something else. Which is ironic, right? Here’s a man whose own background as an African-American is totally unrelated to that of actual Black America —with its autochthonous and historico-cultural claim on Americanism— but who is very obviously interested in a redistributive scheme to even things out some. He is the Immaculate Step-Brother —come to validate an ahistorical con job in paradise.

Remember: when you guarantee the equality of outcomes, you disincentivize work and effort; you debase the notion of meritocracy in favor of schemes intended merely to attract votes and political support. Not everyone can win, especially if they are themselves at fault, but far fewer will lose if there are opportunities to advance in a fair system. That’s the genius of American capitalism and it is more widely available to the average man or woman than Leftist cranks will ever admit.

That these supporters of Obama would require such a reminder —that they are voting against Americanism— is no longer to be doubted.

Obamachrist

Nietzsche is said to have argued that Christianity was the Jews’ revenge on Imperial Rome. And there is a lot to be said for that: in the space of about three centuries, a religion based on the life, death, and resurrection of a troublemaking minority in a  distant province became, essentially, the creed of the world’s greatest empire. The last thing had now become first, just as the Gospels promise.

These are softly psychotic days of cultish confidence and stop-motion spectacles of diseased accretions upon the body politic. I do not know the nature of the plague of messianism; I would not have guessed a year ago that America would tolerate a man as steeped in racist gall and European socialism as this one, but I was wrong. America is cut out for the new totalitarianism. It does not flinch or fight, but waddles right up to the very idea itself like a dodo nuzzling the outstretched hand of a bemused Portuguese.

Barack Hussein Obama is the Democratic Party’s revenge on the Union, my friends. Yeah, it’s true —even if the analogy falls apart. The party of secession, slavery, segregation, and now socialism has elevated a demagogue to dismantle this Republic and to reshape it into some alien and un-American outpost of welfare statism and of an even more wretched sort of Carterism. I simply did not know that we had sunk so low.

A woman I know sat me down today and explained at length that whatever happens next Tuesday will be God’s will; that God always chooses our leaders. I added that some must have been object lessons or negative examples, to which she agreed. I have known this woman for a dozen years, off and on, but this was one of the more intense explications of God’s will that I have yet heard from her. She is passionately an Obamaton, and I think there was a generous helping of motherly sadism in her performance, but what can we do sometimes but take pleasure in being agreeable?

I won’t say I fear for my country, but the cone of uncertainty for me is wider than before.

The Bargaining

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

As she fell into the death throes of her candidacy, I insisted here and elsewhere that Hillary Rodham Clinton was serving a noble purpose and was a hero to this country for doing what she could to smash the idolatry of Barack Obama. I gladly voted for her in the Texas Democratic primary because I felt a genuine obligation not unlike the obligation I believed compelled her own perseverance. And because she is a profoundly intelligent woman, which was true when I despised her for her politics and advisers and which remained true when those things began to matter less than averting the crisis that now faces us: the prospect of a socialist demagogue, wrapped in some diabolical immunity to every normal point of political skepticism, and poised to become the most powerful man on Earth.

Mrs. Clinton, the first characteristic of heroism is selflessness.

Right now, your support of Barack Hussein Obama is nothing more than party loyalty. Let’s be clear about that. You will not run in 2012 because Obama will either be running for re-election —no matter how poorly he will have performed in his first term— or he will be running again to recapture what McCain will have stolen from him here in a few days. Thus, you will be eight years removed from what was once called inevitably yours. Do you think you are another Nixon, set to run in 2016? What if Bill isn’t there with you? Which Democrat, if not Biden, will you have to run against then? Eight years is a long time, Mrs. Clinton. How could that iron ever get so hot again?

I think Hillary Clinton —and surely Bill Clinton himself— have an important opportunity to serve a cause greater than their own self-interest by defying their party in these last few days and issuing an endorsement of John McCain. Can either of them ignore the enormous harm this would do their legacy within the party? No, of course not. But they ought to recognize that the almost kinetic force of such an endorsement would serve a far greater purpose than the burnishing of their own statues while the Republic falls —and into the wrong hands.

The New York Times Endorses Obama

Friday, October 24th, 2008

at the same time it’s going into the toilet:

NEW YORK, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Moody’s Investors Service said on Thursday it may cut its ratings on New York Times Co[.] into junk territory, citing concerns about continuing revenue declines and risks associated with refinancing its debt.

The New York Times posted a quarterly loss from continuing operations on Thursday and said advertising revenue at its news media group dropped 16 percent for the quarter. […]

Newspaper advertising market conditions are likely to remain challenging in 2009 and continuing revenue declines will make it difficult for the company to bring its credit metrics in line with its investment grade rating, Moody’s said in a statement.

Yeah, but come on! The Grey Lady? She’s too big to fail.

But, what a glorious day that would be.

Oikonomia

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Remember a few years ago when Bush the Younger told us that we need to do something about Social Security and meant it —especially for younger people? Well, the usual Democratic hacks screamed bloody murder and insisted that nothing is wrong with Social Security and that it doesn’t need fixing.

So the effort failed. A major underpinning of American working (and retiring) life was declared untouchable and we all forgot about it.

But now we are watching enormous banks, insurers, and mortgage underwriters fail as they have not since the early 1930s, if even then. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Well, as nauseating liberal frauds like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd told us, those giants were too big to fail. That’s because they were the guarantors of greater home ownership amongst the various minority groups and the economic underclass. Thus, in the name of politics, the American Taxpayer was put on the hook for many hundreds of billions of dollars —and now he is hanging thereby.

You think you won’t see more destruction of other untouchable giants?

In the end, all a person can really count on is his home and some pittance to pay the basics. My castle cannot be breached. If some new form of government is imposed upon me and this society in the months and years to come next, I will fight for what I have, but I will not depend on seeing anything at the end of my wage-earning life close to what I put into the Social Security system. It is all haywire and broken promises from here on in. Waste not, want not. Worship frugality and integrity and honesty. And eat at home.

Great Depressing

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I wonder how much of the volatility in the stock market can be attributed to the growing realization that America could soon come under the thumb of a Neo-Socialist agenda not seen since, perhaps, the first years of Franklin Roosevelt’s Administration. Surely, these markets can’t really go unaffected by the concern that business is about to see a very substantial increase of taxation and regulation.

Among the Great Ninety-Five Percent that Obama is demagoguing to are a lot of people who aren’t going to get income tax cuts because they don’t pay any income tax as it is. So where can you go from there? That’s right: you can take even more money from people who do work and give it to people who don’t work. That’s not patriotism to anybody but yutzes like Biden. Such men misunderstand what this country is really about and, instead, think of it as a place where both equality of opportunity and outcome alike are guaranteed. What nonsense!

But you can’t put a feather in that particular cap, my friends, and call it macaroni. Because that cap is stretched into the mask of socialism, which is against both the laws of America and of Nature herself.

Weasel

Obama’s on the TV right now, actually fielding questions about Biden’s suggestion that it is Obama’s inexperience itself that will invite challenges “generated” to test his mettle. And Obama refuses to answer for it. Biden’s given to “rhetorical flourishes”? No, he’s saying that you are a disaster waiting to happen, Barry. Your own Vice President doubts your ability to deal decisively with the international forces at work against us.

You need to be able to address that concern without your usual bullshit and dodging, liar. Of course, the garbage in the so-called “press” aren’t going to make you answer for anything, but History will.

The Great Kenyan Poll-Swallowing Competition

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I just found myself watching a couple minutes of Anderson Cooper on CNN —and he’s simply appalling. Are he and his fellow Obama fluffers even capable of shame at this point? To routinely do everything one can to minimize Obama’s liabilities while simultaneously questioning anything to do with Sarah Palin or her boss is simply advocacy. Do you understand what that word means, hippies? It means that Cooper and Campbell Brown and the meretricious David Gergen and all the other wretched whores on Ted Turner’s old TV station are paid spokespeople for the Obama campaign. They speak out on his behalf while trying to tear down the Republicans. What’s the great scandal tonight? Palin’s and her daughters’ travel expenses? Their wardrobe and make-up budgets? Jesus Christ! Where’s a story about Obama’s support for infanticide? How about a story on his corrupt land deal with Rezko? What does Obama think of Biden’s warnings that we will be deliberately tested by our enemies because of Obama’s inexperience? How many different ways does the Unqualified Liar have of lying about his alliance with and sympathy for the notorious founder of ther Weather Underground, Bill Ayers? He’s lying about that —but nobody cares because the people who occupy the cable news-space are his fucking followers!

If John McCain wins this thing, the era of Big Media is done. That’s a definite KIA. Big Media may be done even if Obama wins because only then will the American public begin to see how many different lies these sorry bastards told us for the sake of their ideological messiah.

No more of your dishonorable nonsense, CNN. You’re done in my household.

Biden Unburdened

Monday, October 20th, 2008

I mean, like, holy shit, Joe (emphases mine):

“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday [19 October 2008]. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. “And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you - not financially to help him - we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”

Ha, ha! What?! Is this why Biden’s no longer available for “availabilities”? Because his foot is in a constant struggle to get into and out of his big mouth? What on Earth is this man trying to suggest? That Obama’s inexperience itself will invite intrigue against us? And that, no matter what his responses are, the nauseating liberal morans will be expected to keep their regrets to themselves?

“Gird your loins,” Biden told the crowd. “We’re gonna win with your help, God willing, we’re gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It’s like cleaning the Augean stables, man. This is more than just, this is more than – think about it, literally, think about it – this is more than just a capital crisis, this is more than just markets. This is a systemic problem we have with this economy.

Watch your wallets, my friends. Clean and Jerk are about to steal your sorry, bourgeois asses blind. No? What “systemic problems” is Biden referring to, do you suppose? Insufficient taxation of the dirty business-owning class? That pesky antipathy working people have against giving their money to chain-smoking daytime TV-watchers who are working on baby number whatever?

You think wealth is the only thing that’s getting spread around here? The Great Society was so great that you just knew it had to have a sequel, so drop some trou and think of [England].
