Phil Donahue
One of my commenters has taken Phil Donahue’s side on the issue of why Donahue’s MSNBC show was cancelled —and that is how “cancelled” is spelt— back in 2003. But let’s be clear about that program: it was a ratings disaster. It was six months of poor returns on the investment. And, as we have learned before, the amoral market is subject to the influence of moral choices.
But what do Donahue, Bill Moyers, and my commenter say is the real reason? Politics.
That’s ridiculous. MSNBC would never cancel a show for political reasons.
Seriously, I just don’t like Phil Donahue.
Back in the early 90’s, Donahue’s producer called to invite me to appear on his program. Before the call was ended, not only had the producer withdrawn her invitation, but actually had the balls to try to use me as a talent scout for the type of person that good ol’ Phil wanted to abuse on the air.
You’ll never guess why she disinvited me.
As I say: Phil Donahue is one of the worst exploiters of degenerate filth in the past 30 years of television.
