See You in Canton, Brett
I happened to catch Brett Favre’s post-game interview with Andrea Kraemer on NBC’s Sunday night NFL broadcast tonight —and it sure seemed like that was his last game. And it was a hell of a performance to go out on, too.
Favre’s just about my age and, just as with Andre Agassi and Lance Armstrong, I have always rooted for him as one of the greats of my generation. He’s gone through a hell of a lot with losing his old man, watching the family’s property get ruined in Katrina, his addictions, and his wife’s health problems. But Favre always comes through.
He got verklempt as he faced the inevitable question from Kraemer, but Favre’s earned every tear. He is the iron man of our day —a real warhorse and competitor. I am proud of him for his courage and endurance.
See you in Canton, Brett.
