Looks like everybody’s resigned to Joe Lieberman losing next week’s Democratic primary to the phony-baloney Ned Lamont. But, along the way, there’s been plenty of opportunities for Lamont’s nutbag supporters to embarrass him and themselves.
Jane Hamsher, for instance, put up (and then quickly took down) a picture on her blog entry at The Huffington Post today of Lieberman and Clinton —with “Holy Joe’s” face photoshopped to make him look like a blackfaced minstrel performer.
I don’t really get the joke, but Hamsher must have.
Perhaps being a member of the default party for black Americans is enough to justify any Democrat in making such stupid cultural allusions with no apparent logic or humor. Joe Lieberman is some sort of house negro? Huh? Lieberman has a long and legitimate record of working for civil rights. And Ned Lamont? He’s a poser who resigned his membership in an all-white country club because he didn’t want to be bothered with any political fall-out. That’s what Lieberman’s campaign has been pointing out —and the nutbags with the Lamont campaign don’t know what else to do about it except respond as Hamsher did.
